DocLens ("the App") is built by the same team behind JianBox, CalMerge, ClauseCheck, and VoxSafe. Our principle is simple: your scans belong to you, not us.
DocLens processes everything on your device. We do not collect, upload, or store any of the following on any server:
DocLens uses Apple's Vision framework (on-device OCR) and the Translation framework (on-device translation) to extract and translate text from images you choose. All recognition, translation, layout detection, and export happen inside your iPhone's app sandbox. The only network requests the App may make are:
Camera: To capture photos, screenshots, documents, and whiteboards for OCR. Used only when you tap the camera button.
Photo Library (Add-Only): To save exported TXT, JPG, and PDF files to your Photos when you tap Save. DocLens never reads your full photo library — image picking uses the system iOS PHPicker, which gives you explicit per-photo selection and never exposes your full library to the app.
Face ID / Touch ID (Optional): To unlock and protect your local OCR history. Disabled by default; you can turn it on in Settings.
Local Network Notifications (Optional): To notify you when a large batch export completes. Off by default.
Each permission is used solely for its stated purpose.
All OCR results, translations, batch export history, and exported files are stored in the App's sandboxed Documents directory, encrypted at rest by iOS. If you enable Face ID / Touch ID lock, access is further gated by iOS biometric authentication.
You can delete any OCR record or export at any time via the App (History → Delete). Uninstalling the App removes all associated data from your device.
DocLens does not integrate with Google Analytics, Firebase, Sentry, Adjust, AppsFlyer, or any ad / tracking SDKs. Your usage patterns are not telemetry-tracked. We do not use third-party cookies or pixels.
The only system-level network interaction is Apple's own Translation framework language-pack download, which is initiated by you through iOS system UI and is not controlled by DocLens.
If you choose to share an OCR result to JianBox (our companion app), DocLens writes the text and a copy of the captured image into a shared App Group container, then opens JianBox via a custom URL scheme. No data is sent to any server in this process. You can disable this integration at any time by uninstalling JianBox.
DocLens VIP is a one-time lifetime in-app purchase. Purchase status is verified locally on your device through Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not maintain our own user accounts, subscriptions, or payment database.
You can delete any OCR record, batch export, or saved file at any time via the App. Uninstalling the App removes all associated data from your device. Because we do not collect your data on our servers, there is nothing to request, export, or delete from us — your data never leaves your device.
DocLens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and (where material) note it in-app.
